Improving Order-picking Operations with Precedence Constraints through Efficient Storage Location Assignment

This paper is inspired by a manual picking retail company where shape and weight constraints affect the order-picking process. We proposed an alternative clustering similarity index that considers similarity, of products. was further incorporated in storage allocation heuristic procedure to set location test supplies over 191 stores, Northern Portugal. When comparing strategy currently used with this procedure, we found out our approach enabled reduction up 40% on distance; percentage improvement 32% higher than one achieved applying Jaccard index, commonly literature. allows warehouses save time work faster.
